What is a Kemuridama?

The Kemuridama, also referred to as a “smoke bomb” or “smoke ball,” was a weapon utilized by the ninja and other warriors in feudal Japan.

The Kemuridama is a small ball made of clay or ceramic that contains a mixture of chemicals and materials that produce a dense cloud of smoke when ignited. The ninja would throw the Kemuridama at their opponents, creating a smokescreen that would obscure their movements and allow them to escape or launch a surprise attack.

The smoke produced by the Kemuridama could also be used to disorient an opponent, making it difficult for them to see or breathe. In some cases, the chemicals used in the Kemuridama could also cause irritation to the eyes or respiratory system.

In addition to its use as a weapon, the Kemuridama was also used by ninja for a variety of other purposes, such as signaling other members of their team, distracting their opponents, or creating a diversion to aid in their escape.
